Job Description:
The Production Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the corrugation and conversion plant. This role ensures maximum productivity (OEE), minimal waste, high-quality production of 5-ply/7-ply sheets, and adherence to safety standards. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Production Planning & Execution: Develop, implement, and monitor daily/weekly production schedules based on sales orders for 5, and 7-ply, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Automatic Plant Operation: Manage the complete automatic corrugation line (wet-end and dry-end), including auto-splicers, corrugator, and converting machines (Flexo Folder Gluer, Die-cutter).
  • Process Optimization: Increase throughput (speed) and reduce downtime through efficient shift scheduling and troubleshooting.
  • Wastage Control: Reduce wastage levels, aiming for industry benchmarks (e.g., target 4–6%) by monitoring kraft paper usage and adhesive application.
  • Quality Management: Ensure 5/7 ply boards meet quality standards (BF, GSM, ECT) and customer specifications, reducing defects and rework.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Work with the engineering team to ensure preventive maintenance schedules are strictly followed to avoid breakdown.
  • Manpower Management: Supervise, train, and manage the performance of operators and helpers.
  • Inventory Control: Coordinate with raw material stores (paper, glue, inks) to ensure availability for production.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce 6S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain, safety) and strict safety protocols.
Required Technical Skills
  • Advanced Corrugation Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of corrugator wet-end (single facer) and dry-end operations for 5-ply/7-ply heavy-duty boards.
  • Automatic Machinery Expertise: Hands-on experience with fully automatic corrugation lines and high-speed conversion machines.
  • Paper & Board Understanding: Strong knowledge of kraft paper grades, GSM, BF (Bursting Factor), and glue formulation.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Navision) for production tracking and data analysis.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to generate and analyze MIS reports (OEE, wastage, output). 
Experience & Education
  • Experience: Minimum 9–15 years in a corrugated box manufacturing industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial role in an automatic plant.
  • Education: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Paper/Packaging Technology
 
3. Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in MechanicalIndustrial, or Production Engineering is typically required.
  • Experience: Usually requires 9–15 years of experience specifically within the corrugation or paper packaging industry.
